How You Can Help

The Irish Dental Benevolent Society is a purely voluntary organisation, run by dental professionals for dental professionals (and their families and dependents). We are totally reliant on the donations and support of people from the dental profession and the goodwill of donors and sponsors.

[DOWNLOAD S/O FORM HERE, complete it and kindly forward it onto your bank.] Please also complete this Remittance Advice Form and return it to us. A contribution of €250 per year is respectfully suggested in order to maximise the value of the donation to the Society (see “Tax Efficient Giving” below) but any amount would be gratefully received.
All bequests and legacies are greatly appreciated and are of enormous value in helping us to carry out our charitable work. A bequest can be made from your total estate or from the residual value of the estate when all debts are paid.
Get involved: Quiz Nights, Golf Classic, Fun Runs etc
You can tell your colleagues of the existence of the I.D.B.S. both to support the society and in case our assistance should ever be required.

Tax Efficient Giving:

Your gift has the power to do more.

Did you know that, if you are in a position to make an annual donation of €250 or more to the Irish Dental Benevolent Society, your donation can go even further in supporting what we do?

If you make a total donation of €250 in one calendar year, we can claim back an additional €112.32 from Revenue, bringing the total value of your donation up to €362.32.

Have you donated to the Irish Dental Benevolent Society in the last four years? If so, just a moment of your time could make all the difference to someone in need of our assistance. And the really great news is that it won’t actually cost you a penny.

How It Works:

The Government-approved tax back scheme allows charities like ours to claim tax back on donations over €250, at no cost to you, our donor.

Do You Qualify?

In order for us to claim tax back on your donations you must have donated €250 or more to the Irish Dental Benevolent Society within one year, in the last four years.

You can make your donation as a once-off donation or by instalments. For example, a monthly gift of €21 over 12 months totals €252, and qualifies for the tax back scheme. This only applies to personal gifts, and not to funds raised through sponsorship.

It doesn’t matter if you’re PAYE or self-assessed. Since 2013, self-assessed tax payers can no longer claim tax back on charitable donations – only the charity can make this claim from Revenue.

Sounds Good? Here’s what you need to do!

All you need to do is complete either a CHY3 form OR a CHY4 form for the Revenue Commissioners.

The CHY3 form is an enduring certificate that is valid for 5 years, unless you cancel it before the end of that period. This means that we don’t have to contact donors each year.

The CHY4 form is valid for just one year. When you have completed and signed the form please return it to the IDBS so that we can get it processed at the appropriate time.

Download your CHY3 tax-back form here.

Download your CHY4 tax-back form here.

All you need do is fill in and sign the form, confirming that you are an Irish tax payer and that you have paid enough income or capital gains tax to cover the amount we will reclaim.

Please send your completed forms to: Carla Hayes, Treasurer, Irish Dental Benevolent Society, c/o Shelbourne Dental Clinic, Office 7 Grand Canal Wharf, South Dock Rd, Dublin 4. D04R 860
